Pluto is a wonderful planet with many great features. It's atmosphere consists of a thin layer of nitrogen, methane, and carbon monoxide. As Pluto moves away from the sun, it's atmosphere freezes and falls to the ground. When pluto comes back closer to the sun it's atmosphere melts and turns into gas. Scientists have recently found out that Pluto's average temperature is 43 degrees Kalvin (-230.15 degrees Celsius) which is 10 degrees Kalvin colder than expected.
 | Pluto was found to have an atmosphere from an observation in 1985. The finding was confirmed by scientists in 1988. Pluto's orbit is significantly different then those of other planets. It does not follow the same ecliptic path like the other planets do. Pluto has three moons; Charon being the largest. The two other moons, Nix and Hydra, were discovered in 2005. These small moons orbit Pluto at aproximatly 3 times the distance of Charon. |
